DIY Wooden Crate Family Picture Decor

I wanted to make this gift for my in laws for their 50th wedding anniversary, but really this would make an amazing mother's day gift too!!!  Using family pictures, a wooden crate, some paint, and a wooden family word I created the custom wall decor.

Here is a video on how I made this collage family decor.

I got the wooden crate and family word from Jo-Anns last year, but you could easily get them on-line (links below).

I decided that I wanted to add a personal touch, but have it be subtle, so I printed out a ton of family pcitures in a collage on white card stock and decoupaged them into frame.  I made them all black and white so I would not see a massive burst of color from all the varying family group pictures.

I added some rope in black and natural around the outside of the crate to add some interest, make it a little more rustic.

You can make the "family" word any color you wish, I made it light blue as that was the wedding color, so it had a double meaning.  You can also change out the word family to mother to make it a true mother's day gift.
